I think it has to do with a few things: First is the release date being atrocious as others have mentioned. This game is fun and it's surely not the worst game ever but cmon.

Stop looking for excuses and realize the truth! PB simply hasn't released an objectively good game since Gothic 2 which again was almost 2 decades ago. Think Gothic 1 or 2 would have cared about Elden Ring? You think Witcher 3, The Last of Us 1 or any old school Dark Souls game would have cared about "release dates" hell nah! They would have done a little worse yes, but they wouldn't fall under the radar because they are objectively good games. If Elex 2 was a good game it would have been successful despite the unfortunate timing of it's release but it hasn't because once again, it's just NOT a good game. Gothic 1 and 2 were godlike and Risen 1 was solid but everything else. This studio hasn't released a banger of a game since 2003 (Gothic 2 dlc) and it doesn't seem like there's a realistic chance that they will do so ever again.ĭon't get me wrong I still like their games and I still play the hell out of every single one of them but truth be told they just aren't good games. Graphics still suck, animations/character models are still clunky/ugly, story is still cringeworth and dull, combat is still clunky and outright trash, music has gotten way worse and the only thing they still got going for them is the amazing hand crafted world. Instead of blaming the release date maybe we should take off our pink fanboi glasses and realize that PB hasn't been making substantial improvements in more than a decade. Maybe this game just isn't that exciting / good? It seems Elex 2 will be the same, will play it when they release some patches and play Elden Ring for now. I remember i bought Elex 1 day one, but ended up playing it a year later, since the gameplay didn't click right away and there were game which interested me more at that point. The only thing that's going for them atm is it's still nr3 in the steam top sellers list, which is probably why playernumbers are sloowly climbing up and one of the big streamers, CohhCarnage, is playing it regularely who gives it much needed international coverage. If you compare the Elex II numbers (8,233peak) vs Elden Ring (944,190peak), you see where the RPG interest is at. The steamplayer numbers also show the lack of interest, it seems there is a hardcore fanbase who is playing it and no one else. Still its a game for fans and not really for international mainstream, almost no coverage, wikis are not created and the reviewers also didn't show it much love while they praise Elden Ring as masterpiece. What PB is definitely very good at, is building nice looking handcrafted worlds. The game's tech is also average and the combat feels clumsy. Everytime i visit this subreddit it feels like i enter a sideroom instead of a bustling place. It has become a niché game and sadly there isn't so much interest in it anymore.
